Short answer

Ask Claude for a set-up link. Open it in your own browser, signed in to Cosend, and connect your number in Meta’s window. Then tell Claude you are done, and Claude checks that the number is connected.

Claude can do a lot in Cosend for you. Connecting a WhatsApp number is not one of those things. That step happens in Meta’s window, and only you can complete it, in your own browser.

So Claude asks Cosend for a set-up link. The link opens a Cosend page that does that one step and nothing else. An AI app connected to Cosend can never connect a number or pay for you. It can only hand you the link.

What you need before you start

  • A Cosend account. You must be an owner or an admin of the workspace, because only they can connect a number.
  • Cosend connected to Claude. Use the Add to Claude button on Cosend’s MCP page, then sign in.
  • The permission Connect and change other apps left ticked when you signed in. Claude needs it to make a set-up link.

Connect your number, step by step

  1. In a Claude chat with Cosend turned on, ask: “Make me a set-up link to connect my WhatsApp number.”
  2. Claude may ask you to allow Cosend’s tool first. Allow it.
  3. Claude gives you the link, and tells you to open it in your own browser, signed in to Cosend as yourself, within 30 minutes.
  4. Open the link. If you are not signed in to Cosend, sign in first, and Cosend brings you back to the page.
  5. The page is called Connect a WhatsApp number. It is the same connect as in the Cosend dashboard. Choose how you want to connect, for example Keep WhatsApp on my phone.
  6. Meta’s window opens. Follow its steps.
  7. When the number is connected, the page says: “Done. Go back to the app that sent you here to continue.”
  8. Go back to Claude and say: “I’m done. Check the link.”
  9. Claude checks the link. When it says completed, Claude can tell you which number was connected. You can also ask Claude to call whoami, which lists the numbers connected to your workspace.

When Claude checks a set-up link, it gets one of four answers:

  • open: the step has not happened yet. Finish it on the page, then ask Claude to check again.
  • completed: the number is connected.
  • expired: the 30 minutes passed. Ask for a new link.
  • cancelled: someone cancelled it, or a newer link replaced it.

The link only counts as completed when the number really connects. Opening the page is not enough.

Good to know

  • The link is only for you. It works for the person who asked for it, signed in, in that workspace. Nobody else can use it.
  • One open link at a time. A new link to connect a number cancels the workspace’s open one, whoever made it.
  • You can cancel a link. Ask Claude to cancel it if you change your mind. Cancelling stops the page working. It does not disconnect a number that is already connected.

Common questions

Can Claude connect my number without me?

No. Claude can only make the link. You connect the number yourself, signed in to Cosend in your own browser, in Meta’s window.

30 minutes, and only for the person who asked for it. It carries no password or key.

Ask Claude for a new link. A new link of the same kind replaces the open one.
